Sunny Mani

I used China Glaze in a metallic sand shade and Essie’s Peach Side Babe for the accent nail. I also popped on a gold-edged nail sticker! I like the creaminess of the colors together.

Hubby and I went to Muddy Waters for a happy hour last week and it was too much fun. 4:30pm – 6:30pm weekdays this place will serve you $1 east coast oysters on the rocks! We ordered 24 of them of which I consumed 6. Then we feasted like kings and continued to eat the hot chicken entree, cornbread skillet with jalapeno cajun butter and finished it all off with a full order of beignets! The dipping sauce was a melted caramel with a shot of bourbon–luxe! Yes, our bill ended up being very high but getting a taste of New Orleans in Pittsburgh was nice enough. We will be back!

Here are a few of my USS Midway pics that didn’t make it to my San Diego post. This ship was a 3-min walking trip from our hotel! Good times!

Candied Mani

Visited La Gourmandine French bakery for the first time last week and enjoyed one of these babies as a result. Best cream puff I’ve ever had, even including the giant cream puff from Schmidt’s in German Village, Columbus. The pastry was so light and fresh! The cream was airy, whipped and just the slightest hint of sweet. I refrigerated first so I could enjoy the cream chilled. I live for French bakeries. Why, oh, why are you 40 minutes away from me?  Here it is: my Easter-themed candy mani! I used China Glaze lilac and pinky pink. The middle fingers have a topcoat of Sally Hansen’s 3D fuzzy confetti! It is REALLY hard to remove so I know this nail at least won’t chip. I don’t celebrate Easter but I’ve always enjoyed pastel colors in fashion and beauty.
My babycat is sleeping in the most adorable way! Looks at those snow-white mitts of hers! She’s plumping up a little for spring time :).   This is the stray cat who makes regular visits to my front door late at night. She is very vocal and yells for Pangur Ban to come out and play. Pangur Ban is not friendly to her at all which makes me ask “why can’t we be friends?” I have named this adorable stray Marigold. She comes up real close but if I open the door, she backs away and runs into the bushes. Feel free to visit anytime you want, Marigold!

Bright Styles

This is my first time using China Glaze nail polish. I was surprised by the matte finish and streaky look. I chose this poppin’ goldenrod color to help usher in a fresh spring. The ring finger is accented with a purple flowers sticker! It took almost 4 coats of this polish to get an acceptable opacity level. I also wish the brush were a little more flatter and wider for easier application.

The nail wraps I did 2 weeks ago were still intact and needed a huge amount of remover to get the darn things off. Lasting power is crazy good, I would say.
Craft time! I painted a simple wooden 4×6 picture frame with acrylics, then cut some nicely patterned craft paper and glued it to the back. I then used the Urban Decay tattoo glitter set I have to create a golden dove silhouette. Any loose glitter is protected by the glass! This piece will serve as minor decor to a bigger craft project I’ve been working on. I am waiting on an Amazon gift card in the mail so I can realize this fanciful visualization I have in my head right now. It involves upcycling and major crafting! Stay tuned!  My Pangur cat LOVES hanging out in the sink. She chose the guest bathroom sink this time as a first so of course I had to photograph this for the archives.
