The Ritual of Ayurveda

My Fall mani–featuring a classic vampy red from VS, Essie chrome and blue glitter topper.

Tryazon and Rituals sent me the Rituals of Ayurveda medium gift set to review! Look at this ultra-fem, ultra giftable box and arrangement! I’ve tried Sakura and Dao before but was slightly afraid of Ayruveda because it might be too spicy or strong. I was pleasantly surprised by the Indian rose and sweet oil scent because it was not too cloying or overwhelming. I found it very feminine and lush. Thankfully, there wasn’t any incense-like smell and it was not headache inducing at all. The scent lingers and feels very mature. I would definitely recommend it for an older female demographic like your mom, older sister, MIL, aunt, etc.

First time trying a Rituals hand liquid hand soap. It does not disappoint! This gave a rich lather and the boxy shape makes it seem really high end. My hands didn’t feel tight or dry afterwards.

The body scrub with pink Himalayan salt is wonderful. The scrub wasn’t too abrasive and the oils in it help with the application.

The foaming shower wash is an innovative way to lose the loofah! I’ve had issues in the past with the deluxe sized version because the nozzle dispensed too much at once but the full sized version seemed to be okay. The foam gave a rich lather and it felt like washing with clouds.

Lastly, the body cream was bomb! In every one of these gift sets, this one is my favorite because of how perfect the texture is. This cream is rich, thick, fast absorbing but not greasy! It is a joy to put on!

I bought a set of 12 bath bombs from Amazon that came beautifully packaged. Daphne picked out the first one we used–the coconut lavender! Fizzing action was medium and the color payoff was A+! Scent was almost non-existent but that’s not the worst thing when you’re bathing a 2-yr old.

A Colorful March

It is now established that if I bathe, I must bathe with biddyboo. Once she tried out our giant tub once with bubbles, fun colors and bath toys, she was not going to miss another opportunity. I got this set of bath bombs from JCPenny’s around Christmas time and just couldn’t resist its oh-so-chic Parisian packaging. I tried out the White Tea scent first and it fizzed well. The scent wasn’t strong at all but that might also be due to the fact I’m sick (as I’ve been all year…) but it did turn the water into a nice sea glass green.

The Victoria’s Secret bath fizzes are really great quality! They are giant in size and fizz powerfully. The scent is strong and pleasant and the color is pretty vibrant as well. The residue is minimal too, which is a plus!

My friend gave me this over Thanksgiving break and I finally mustered up the courage to try it. The scent was more like an autumn spice thankfully, and not too much food flavor here. It didn’t fizz very strongly and the color choice is just not great. To all bath bomb manufacturers out there–please don’t go with turning the water any shade of yellow. Just don’t do it.

Two weeks ago at the Strip, we bought these radiant irises for only $1! Unbelievable! They lasted a whole week too! No scent, but how gorgeous do they look at my breakfast table?

This was taken at a posh grocery store at PATH in Toronto. They are simply the prettiest little mousse cakes I have ever seen.

I’m not even a candy or gummy aficionado but man, this brand Sugarfina sure does know how to package and display their goods! The mini ice cream cone and pineapple gummies looked the most intriguing to me.

I ordered this delicious mango pudding at this fancy dim sum restaurant we went to in Toronto. Biddyboo ate only this.

Ahhh…my beauty! I had been eyeing this one of a kind carry on for over a year and finally buckled. I’m pleased to announce that it is every bit like its description online and more. I chose the 22″ one and it am so happy. It is a bit cramped inside and not as big as my other hardside carry on but it is infinitely more beautiful. The seller even included a luggage tag, underwear bags and stickers as extras for my purchase!

April Mani

To combat the gloom of incessant rain, cloud temperatures and cloudiness, I opted for a vibrant, posh pink mani complete with some glitz! I used:

Essie’s Madison Ave-hue and Victoria’s Secret’s Showstopper. I also put on a Diamond Candles ring that wasn’t a size 10. Well…it was a size 7 so it still didn’t fit me but the citron is definitely eye-catching! I usually just get plain boring old white/clear stones so this is great for me. It also looks like it could pass for a lemony topaz, my birthstone!

This month, most of my big girl allowance (from myself, lol) went to purchases on Poshmark. That, and the mortgage, but I won’t talk about that. For most of last year and this year, I had been using this awesome app to sell things from my own closet. It’s rather cathartic to clear clothes, makeup, perfumes, shoes and make sure the things I don’t use anymore go to someone who will give them some lovin’! Lately, I’ve been using it to shop and boy, it’s addicting! The flat shipping fee of $5 is most def a deterrent to buying lower-price items, so the trick is to find multiple items you like from a seller and create a bundle. I have found that people are usually pretty nice about discounts and some are even nice enough to add a beauty sample or two! I know I always add a pair of free earrings, a lipgloss, a lotion sample, eyeshadow, ring, etc. for people that bundle or buy something for over $10. Just in the last 2 weeks, I have been guilty of purchasing from 6 separate sellers, totaling up to $118 with $20 of that going to just shipping. There was thankfully a sale on shipping when a seller lowers the price of their item by at least 10%. That sounds like a lot but I also got a lot! I even secured the perfect floral dress for a summer wedding! I was also in the market for a new toner and I snagged a pre-owned Estee Lauder toner for only $7 that will last me probably 5 months! Anyways, I’m going to try to REALLY restrain myself not to “like” everything on all those girls’ closets, so here’s to hoping I make some sales of my own sometime to catch up with my makeup and fashion addiction ;).

Halloween Mani

IMG_2053.JPG

Wanted to do my spin on the old orange and black! I paired a purplish navy with a coral-y peach shimmer shade to lean on the side of feminine rather than scary. The color scheme is definitely still festive but a little more playful. I ran out of nail polish remover so this mani will have to last a while! I have been using these Josie Maran nail wipes (sans acetone) that were a Christmas present so it’s great that they lasted this long! I’ve been missing the cotton ball wet soak of a normal bottle of liquid remover so that will have to be my next beauty purchase.

Posh Mani

IMG_1885.JPG

I love pairing these two colors! This deep and rich purplish navy is so right for this breezy fall season! The pop of shimmery posh pink is more than enough to preppify this manicure ;). I like the hot pink/navy combination of colors so much I have this whole Pinterest board just filled with all these amazing furniture and home decor pieces I wish to someday have.

Nail polishes used:

-Essie’s Madison Ave-Hue

-Victoria’s Secret Game On

I secretly hope this polish doesn’t last as long as my last mani so that I can change up more colors! Essie, why must you be so long-lasting?

Tiffany Blue!

IMG_1855.JPG

Riding out the hottest month of summer in style! It’s been a good year and a half since I used my Tiffany Blue shade. This time I incorporated the sparkly ring finger boldness! I like the end result of an Essie mani, but my problem with it is the lack of ultra creaminess and opaqueness on the first couple of coats. For OPI, Sally Hansen, JulepĀ and a bunch of miscellaneous brands (H&M, Sephora, Revlon, etc.), two coats is no problem. For Essie, I must do 3-4 to get the layers to look even. No complaints about their range of colors though! I wish OPI would foray into the greens and purples more.
